John Kinsel
Workshop: Lessons for Prevention on Early Childhood and Infant Mental Health
John D. Kinsel, MS, LPCC is recently retired as Clinical Supervisor and an Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist at the Young Children’s Assessment and Treatment Services (YCATS) program of Samaritan Behavioral Health, Inc. in Dayton, Ohio. Services supervised and/or delivered by Mr. Kinsel include individual and family counseling, intensive group counseling, mental health consultation with Early Childhood Education administrators, teachers and parents, and training on the social and emotional needs of young children. He has also been clinical supervisor for a federally funded research grant designed to develop best practices for providing clinical services to very young children exposed to Domestic Violence. Mr. Kinsel has presented widely across Ohio on topics related to Early Childhood Mental Health.
With a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s degree in Child Development, Mr. Kinsel has been providing Early Childhood Mental Health Services for over 28 years. In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Kinsel has been active at the state level promoting the importance of early attention to the emotional and social needs of very young children. He served as the charter president of the Ohio Association for Infant Mental Health, was on the writing team for Ohio’s Infant/Toddler Guidelines for ODJFS, served as a member of the School Readiness Committee of ODE and sits on ODMH’s Early Childhood Mental Health Initiative Advisory Committee, among others. Now operating his own private training and consultation practice, Mr. Kinsel continues to be active in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health. |
