Focus on Prevention: Best Practices and Lessons Learned on Addressing Violence Before it Occurs
Mary Murray
Prevention and Intervention have been consistent themes of anti-violence work for decades. But in a resource-scare environment, it is difficult for organizations to fully invest in prevention strategies while victims go underserved. This workshop will emphasize the value of prevention and potential efficiency of addressing the root causes of all forms of violence: elder abuse, child abuse, intimate partner violence, teen dating violence and youth violence. Lessons learned from Ohio coalitions involved in successful prevention initiatives will be shared. Participants will engage in dialogue about applying prevention best practices in their own work and effectively balance competing priorities. |
