From the Beginning: Domestic Violence and Very Young Children
John Kinsel
The purpose of this session will be to inform participants of the effects of exposure to domestic violence on infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Increasing awareness of the importance of the early years in human development requires us to be aware of and attentive to the very young when considering the prevention of domestic violence. Neurological, emotional, behavioral and relational risk factors that contribute to the continuation of the violence cycle will be discussed. Protective factors essential for prevention and treatment will also be addressed. |
